Brake & Clutch Fluid Flush

Discs, calipers, pads and master cylinders are the four cardinal components of each braking system. However they cannot play together without the fulcrum of the entire system: the brake fluid.

Typically, brake fluid level is checked and topped up only when it has fallen below the minimum mark. However this does not avoid the risk of “vapour lock”, the formation of vapour bubbles when a brake fluid boils. This problem occurs when the brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, as a result of the porosity of the brake circuit tubes, thereby drastically reducing its boiling point.  When the brake fluid boils the lever becomes "spongey" or comes all the way back to the bar!  This means that arguably the most important safety system on the motorcycle is working poorly or not working at all.  The extreme climate changes of the midwest cause the fluid to absorb even more moisture than usual.
Making matters worse, the water contamination causes corrision in the brake system which can again cause failure of the braking components.  This corrision of metal parts and seals can lead to complete brake failure in some instances!

To avoid this, it is essential to replace the brake fluid within the time limit recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Ducati recommends to have the brake & clutch system flushed and filled every 2 or 3 years depending on the model.  Again, due to our harsh and fluctuating midwest environment, Ducati Indianapolis recommends flushing and filling of the brake and clutch fluid every 2 years on street motorcycles and every year on track motorcycles.

Brake and clutch fluid flushes start at $130**

**Any repair on pre-existing issues with brakes or clutch may result in additional charges.
