Brake & Clutch Fluid Flush

Discs, calipers, pads and master cylinders are the four main components of your bike's braking system. However they cannot function without the crux of the entire system: the brake fluid.

Typically, brake fluid level is checked and topped up only when it has fallen below the minimum mark. This does not avoid the risk of “vapor lock”, the formation of vapor bubbles when a brake fluid boils. This problem occurs when the brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. A result of the porosity of the brake circuit tubes, drastically reducing its boiling point.  When the brake fluid boils the lever becomes "spongey" or comes all the way back to the bar!  This means that arguably the most important safety system on the motorcycle is working at reduced capacity, or not working at all.  The extreme climate changes of the midwest can cause the fluid to absorb even more moisture than in temperate climates.
Making matters worse, the water contamination causes corrision in the brake system which can again cause failure of the braking components. This corrision of metal parts and seals can lead to complete brake failure in some instances!

To avoid this, it is essential to replace the brake fluid within the time limit recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Ducati recommends to have the brake and hydraulic clutch system flushed and filled every 2 or 3 years, depending on the model.  Again, due to our harsh and fluctuating midwest environment, Ducati Indianapolis recommends flushing and filling of the brake and clutch fluid every other year on street motorcycles and at least once a season on track motorcycles.

Brake and clutch fluid flushes start at $100**

**Any repair on pre-existing issues with brakes or clutch may result in additional charges. Price discounted if included during regular service**

Belt Replacement Service

Don't let the picture below happen to you! It is an example of what could happen if one of your belts break.

The Ducati maintenance schedule requires periodic belt replacement. Mileage and time are both important factors. Depending on year and model the intervals for replacement are 2-5 years, and 6,000-15,000 miles. If a timing belt breaks, it will cause catastrophic failure to the engine, and possibly harm the rider. Preventative maintenance is the key to keeping your bike on the road!

Service cost approximately $140-240 for parts and approximately $220-495 for labor depending on model.
